The City of Vantaa has used a parking enforcement system provided by Fujitsu for several years.

”Now it was time to take a bigger digitalization leap and move to the cloud. Based on tendering, we chose Fujitsu's new solution which has been developed actively and which includes new, user-friendly functions. Our goal is that the new systems will be more reliable and easier to maintain," says Anne Lindblad-Ahonen, ICT procurement manager of the City of Vantaa.

The new parking enforcement systems will be implemented as a SaaS on the Microsoft Azure platform. The delivery project is underway, and the system is to be put into full operation in early summer 2021.

When the parking enforcement systems moves to the cloud, the old maintenance products can be abandoned. The project both renews the current system and implements new functionalities, such as homecare permit registry.

"Our parking management and debt collection system Helga, designed for municipalities and cities, makes parking enforcement easier and faster in over 30 Finnish municipalities and cities. Helga is a good example of how routine tasks in everyday work can be handled more conveniently with a cloud-based solution. It is also important to use human-centric digital applications to reduce wasting all kinds of resources, which is environmentally friendly," says Ilona Ylinampa, Head of Information Management at Fujitsu Finland.

The system includes Helgapark.net cloud service based on Microsoft Azure and Helga mobile app used in the phones of parking attendants. The systems consists of a few optional products and several interfaces with the systems of public and private operators, such as the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom's transport register. Fujitsu's Helga meets the demands of the General Data Protection Regulation's (GDPR) accessibility directive.
