Viesti maisemassa / Message in the landscape

Äkkiseltään oheinen kuva saattaa näyttää vain maisemakuvalta Kolilta, meidän suomalaisten kansallismaisemasta.

Minulle kuva symbolisoi paljon muutakin.

Näitä marjoja meillä jokaisella on oikeus kerätä.

Message in the landscape

The picture above may only look like a landscape picture of Koli National Park, the national landscape of Finns.

For me, the image symbolizes much more. I see a customer challenge here.

In the sky, there are clouds, big and small, separate and interconnected. In the lake, there are islands of different sizes and far on the other side of the lake there is land, hazily connected to the sky and its clouds.

After all, the image clearly presents a hybrid IT or OT environment to which the customer has challenges in accessing and managing it. Separate traditional and cloud services seem to be more or less integrated with each other.

Who is driving a boat on the lake? Who ascends on the islands and with whose permission? Does anyone fly in the sky and watch the landscape and the composition of the clouds without us knowing it?

There is no such thing as everyman’s-right in IT / OT environments, but instead, the “landscape” should be brought under control and it should be known who is moving there and on what purpose.

I also see in the picture a solution to the customer's challenge. That solution is just waiting to be discovered in the foreground. More specifically, the solution is Privileged Access Management (PAM). We all have the right to pick these berries.

Unlike rowan berries, these berries are not acidic except for those who tamper with them (at this point, the pictorial symbolism is a bit lame, but so what :).
